Esta pieza se realizó para el proyecto Extramuros de La Galería Libertad en Querétaro, México. El reto era utilizar el puesto de un tianguis, como se denominan los mercados al aire libre en México, con sus mismos materiales y dificultades, para acercar el arte contemporáneo a un público que no tiene acceso al mismo.
El tianguis donde sucede la propuesta es en el tianguis el Tintero, situado en una zona popular de la ciudad. Este mercado callejero se sitúa como centro de reunión, de expresión, de convivencia, como lugar privilegiado para abrir una ventana al mundo. De esta forma aparece como punto de conexión y puente, de convivencia y conocimiento intercultural.
Se abre una propuesta mediante correo electrónico y redes sociales entre ciudadanos españoles para que envíen mensajes a los visitantes y vendedores del tianguis el Tintero.. Se explica a los posibles participantes las características de la zona y cómo se plantea abrir una ventana al mundo a través de la pieza. Se trata de comunicar lo que consideren que les ha dejado huella, recomendaciones en cuanto a arte, literatura, música, cine, una experiencia vital, un lugar, un tesoro de la naturaleza, filosofía, conocimiento, espiritualidad, lo que fuera que ellos piensen que los demás no se pueden perder. De esta forma convertimos al Tintero en una ventana que se abre al mundo, que conecta con ciudadanos de España y se convierte en puente transoceánico. Se hace una selección entre todos los mensajes y se imprimen para construir la pieza.
A partir de esta experiencia, los habitantes y visitantes del tianguis el Tintero ofrecen una respuesta a los mensajes lanzados desde España.
Desde su experiencia y lugar en el mundo, lo que consideran imperdible para ellos y quieren compartir. A partir de esta respuesta la idea es generar otra pieza, como si fuera engendrada, creando un diálogo entre ambas.
This piece was made for the project Extramuros of La Galería Libertad in Querétaro, Mexico. The challenge was to use the position of a tianguis, as they are called open-air markets in Mexico, with their same materials and difficulties, to bring contemporary art to an audience that does not have access to it.
The tianguis where the proposal happens is in the tianguis el Tintero, located in a popular area of the city. This street market is situated as a center of meeting, of expression, of coexistence, as a privileged place to open a window to the world. In this way it appears as a point of connection and bridge, of coexistence and intercultural knowledge.
A proposal is opened via email and social networks among Spanish citizens to send messages to the visitors and sellers of the tianguis el Tintero. Potential participants are explained the characteristics of the area and how the idea is to open a window to the world through the piece. The idea is to communicate what they consider has left an impression on them, recommendations in terms of art, literature, music, cinema, a life experience, a place, a treasure of nature, philosophy, knowledge, spirituality, whatever it is that they think others should not miss. In this way we turn the Tintero into a window that opens to the world, that connects with citizens of Spain and becomes a transoceanic bridge. A selection is made from all the messages and they are printed to build the piece.
From this experience, the inhabitants and visitors of the tianguis el Tintero offer a response to the messages sent from Spain.
From their experience and place in the world, what they consider unmissable for them and what they want to share. From this response, the idea is to generate another piece, as if it were engendered, creating a dialogue between the two.
